Dr. Cruz was born in Queens and moved to East Meadow at the age of 8 where he was raised as a Long Island native. He attended East Meadow High School, where he graduated with honors as a Scholar Athlete. Dr. Cruz then received his Bachelors of Science in Biology at Adelphi University knowing he wanted to pursue health care. He spent the following two years exploring the many options of healthcare, ultimately choosing dentistry as it so eloquently combines art, technology, and patient care.
His pursuit for higher education led him to the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, which is currently ranked #7 in the nation and #11 in the world. During his time at dental school, Dr. Cruz took on multiple roles within the student community serving as an executive board member of the Hispanic Dental Association, the Student National Dental Association, and the class representative of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion committee. Additionally, Dr. Cruz furthered his professional development by attending leadership development seminars hosted by the American Dental Education Association for emerging student leaders of underrepresented backgrounds. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Cruz completed his Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at the Albany-Stratton Veteran Affairs Medical Center.
During his time at Adelphi University, Dr. Cruz met his wife, Marisa, during an Ultimate Frisbee practice in 2014. After 9 years of being together, Dr. Cruz and his wife got married in October 2023. Moreover, Dr. Cruz serves his community and his country as an officer in the United States Army Reserve. He currently holds the rank of Captain. In his free time, he enjoys cooking with his wife, going to the movies, building Legos and going to the gym. To this day, you can still find Dr. Cruz playing Ultimate Frisbee at your local pickup game.
